	In 2024 sloot Yara zich aan bij de HZ-onderzoeksgroep Building with Nature als onderzoeker-docent. Hier brengt ze haar antropologische perspectief in bij diverse onderzoeksprojecten, waaronder SOURCE en Delta Wealth. Haar belangrijkste focus ligt op het onderzoeken van de maatschappelijke impact van technologische en ecologische maatregelen in kustgebieden. Zo verkent ze hoe traditionele ecologische kennis en de unieke perspectieven van kustgemeenschappen kunnen bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van zandsuppletiestrategieën. Yara's werk omvat diepgaand kwalitatief onderzoek binnen een kustgemeenschap in Zeeland. Het doel is om kennis samen te brengen die essentieel is voor effectieve zandsuppletie. 	In 2016, she graduated with an MA in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from Leiden University, where she honed her expertise in urbanization, rural development, migration, and sustainable development. Her ethnographic research spans diverse locations, including the Wadden Islands, the Philippines, Ghana, and Morocco. For example, she conducted studies on the perspectives of residents on Schiermonnikoog towards project developments, the connection between surfers and their natural environment in Rabat, and access to clean drinking water in the Northern-Luzon.
