- Yara Maljers is cultureel antropoloog, gespecialiseerd in plattelandsontwikkeling, visuele etnografie en de complexe relatie tussen mens en natuur. In 2016 behaalde ze haar master in Culturele Antropologie en Ontwikkelingssociologie aan de Universiteit Leiden, waar ze haar expertise ontwikkelde op het gebied van urbanisatie, plattelandsontwikkeling, migratie en duurzame ontwikkeling. Haar etnografisch onderzoek ging over diverse locaties waaronder de Waddeneilanden, Filipijnen, Ghana en Marokko. Zo deed ze onder meer onderzoek naar de perspectieven van bewoners van Schiermonnikoog op projectontwikkelingen, de connectie tussen surfers en hun natuurlijke omgeving in Rabat en de toegang tot schoon drinkwater in Noord-Luzon.
