- Vana Tsimopoulou is civiel ingenieur met een expertise op het gebied van waterbouwkunde en overstromingsrisicobeheer. Ze promoveerde in 2015 aan de Technische Universiteit Delft in de civiele techniek. Voor haar PhD ontwikkelde ze analytische en numerieke modellen ter ondersteuning van risicogebaseerde besluitvorming in waterveiligheidsondernemingen in Nederland en Japan. Vana heeft als consultant gewerkt voor verschillende bedrijven, zoals Van Oord, HKV Consultants en Lynkeus Srl. Ze is betrokken geweest bij projecten in vele landen, waaronder Nederland, Turkije, de Verenigde Staten, Bulgarije, Japan, Indonesië en Saoedi-Arabië. Sinds 2015 besteedt zij steeds meer tijd aan onderwijs in de rollen van associate lector probabilistisch ontwerpen bij IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education en lector Safety and Security Management aan de Haagse Hogeschool. In 2020 is zij toegetreden tot de leerstoelgroep Building with Nature van HZ University of Applied Sciences als projectleider van het Hedwige-Prosperpolder onderzoek. Sinds 2023 is ze associate lector van de onderzoeksgroep Assetmanagement.
