Biobased Building - Making biobased information accessible
This project addresses the lack of accessible information on biobased construction materials. To overcome industry resistance and misconceptions, the team proposed creating an information package, awareness survey, and promotional materials to boost understanding and encourage sustainable building practices.

| Project description: | Architects, construction managers, and homeowners struggle with finding reliable information and resources on biobased materials. The frictions can best be explained as: lack of accessible, comprehensive information and resources on biobased materials, and concerns about costs and practicality There is a need to create an easily accessible platform with detailed information, resources, and support for biobased construction. But obstacles include industry resistance to change, limited funding, and misconceptions about biobased materials' cost and durability. |
| Outcomes: | The proposed idea is to develop and distribute a biobased information package, conduct a survey to assess awareness and gather ideas, and create engaging flyers/posters to raise public knowledge on biobased materials. Raising awareness and increasing the use of biobased materials can stimulate local economies by encouraging the growth of sustainable industries. This can create jobs, promote eco-friendly practices, and attract investment in green technologies, leading to broader regional development and environmental benefits. |
