2425 s1 - Circulair economy-Biodiversity
How can biodiversity be promoted in the HZ Garden while also enhancing its visual appeal? To explore this question, the student investigated how biodiversity in the garden could be measured, which plant species would both support local biodiversity and make the garden more attractive, and what additional structures could be introduced to boost biodiversity in a visually pleasing way.

| Project description: | How can biodiversity be promoted in the HZ Garden while also enhancing its visual appeal? To explore this question, the student investigated how biodiversity in the garden could be measured, which plant species would both support local biodiversity and make the garden more attractive, and what additional structures could be introduced to boost biodiversity in a visually pleasing way. |
| Outcomes: | The conclusion of this research includes several recommendations to promote biodiversity in the HZ Garden. Biodiversity can be measured in various ways, although it largely depends on the local flora and fauna as well as the season. To enhance both biodiversity and the garden's appearance, native species of host plants, nectar plants, flowering plants, and berry bushes are advised. Adding features such as insect hotels, birdhouses, shelters for hedgehogs and lizards, and water elements can also contribute significantly. Additionally, it is recommended to build on the ideas developed by previous Circular Economy minor students, with a specific focus on improving the conversation pit and enhancing the condition of the pond and wadi. |
